Lettre du Gouvernement à la Commission européenne demandant l’application du taux réduit de TVA à la restauration [Letter from the Government to the European Commission requesting the application of a reduced rate of VAT in the restaurant sector]

In June 2002, the French Government sent a letter to the European Commission requesting that a reduced rate of VAT be applied in the restaurant sector. In order to support this request, the French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, sent a government memorandum to the European Commission on 21 January 2003, again requesting that a lower rate of VAT be applied in this field.
