Lufthansa has warned it could eventually walk away from the planned takeover of BMI British Midland unless Sir Michael Bishop, BMI chairman and controlling shareholder, agrees to inject more capital into the struggling UK carrier, May 2009.

In response, Sir Michael Bishop, resorted to legal action on the 20 May 2009 in an effort to force Lufthansa to take over his majority stake in BMI.
