In November 2004, the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) launched a new online newsletter, 'Alicante News'. Among the aims of this initiative are the general improvement of OHIM's communication and external relations and a better, guided promotion of its website and the services if offers. In this first issue, the lead article highlights the fact that, from 1 October 2004, the EC can be designated in international applications and international trade mark registrations.
