Summary:

The main feature of this issue of the E&I magazine highlights the first European SME Week, taking place in May 2009. Ahead of the European Parliament elections, four MEPs highlight for the magazine major developments and the coming issues in enterprise policy on which the Parliament will play a decisive role.

The issue also includes features on a package of proposals adopted by the European Commission aimed to adapt regulation relating to Europe's pharmaceuticals industry in the context of EU27 and a globalised world. Other articles look at the recently launched Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, the 2009 activities under the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Europe’s innovation performance, the ‘Your Europe – Business’ portal and the Enterprise Experience Programme.
