Mandelson puts extra strain on Brown relationship with talk of date for euro

In an interview with French newspaper 'Le Monde' on his first day in office, 22 November 2004, Peter Mandelson, European Commissioner for Trade, insisted that the UK Government should declare a date by when the UK must join the single currency.
