Mauritius seeks €1.5bn support as EU reforms hit exports

Mauritius, widely regarded as one of Africa's few modern success stories, is seeking €1.5bn in international support to help it create a more competitive economy and wean it away from dependence on preferential treatment by the European Union. It was affected by the reform of the EU's sugar regime and the liberalisation of textiles' rules in the world.
