Further information: The Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit was welcomed by the High Representative for Foreign Policy Federica Mogherini as he was invited to exchange views with ministers attending a Foreign Affairs Council meeting on 3 April. It was an opportunity for Foreign ministers to discuss a set of issues, like the the Middle East Peace Process, Syria, Libya and Yemen. Ms Mogherini took the chance to comment upon the announcement made by the US President Donald Trump on transferring the country's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The EU's High Representative stated the European Union and its Member States were not following the lead and would discourage any kind of decision that goes in that direction. The Secretary General of the League of Arab States was invited to join a meeting of the Council of the European Union to discuss a set of matters concerning the Arab world. |
