Memo: Preparation Environment Council, 20-21 October 2008

The first formal Environment Council under the French Presidency of the Council will be held on 20-21 October in Luxembourg. Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas will represent the European Commission. The agenda for the first day focuses on international climate change negotiations, the climate-energy package, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and trade in seal products. For the second day the topics will be the Action Plan on sustainable consumption and production and sustainable industrial policy, and preparation for the Euro-Mediterranean ministerial conference on water later this month.
