MEPs and member states have reached a compromise on the maximum number of hours junior doctors should be allowed to work

After weeks of conciliation talks, the two agreed that recently qualified doctors should work an average of 48 hours per week but delayed implementation of the measure for nine years. Member states had earlier pushed for a delay of 13 years, while MEPs argued for four years.
