Date: 24/05/01 Like any good boss Parliament President Nicole Fontaine always tries to get the most out of her underlings - which is, of course, the main reason she tried to reintroduce Friday sessions at the assembly's monthly Strasbourg meeting. Her work ethic is not shared by most of her colleagues, it seems: the Parliament last week narrowly voted to keep Fridays casual. MEPs were heard to murmur that Fontaine had another reason for attempting to bring back Fridays - to ensure France keeps its hold over the Parliament. |
