The European Parliament's legal affairs committee voted on 12 October 2015 to lift the parliamentary immunity of Bela Kovacs, a Hungarian far-right member of the chamber accused of spying on EU institutions for Russia.

MEPs voted, in a closed session, on a draft report by Polish centre right MEP Tadeusz Zwiefka which recommended the waiver. Sources told EUObserver it had passed by a simple majority, with two deputies, from France's far-right National Front party saying No, and two others abstaining.
