MEPs want one seat for EU in IMF

Article anticipates a debate at the Europea Parliament of a report on the the strategic review of the International Monetary Fund. The report was drafted by French Socialist Benoît Hamon and adopted unanimously at the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. The debate at the plenary was scheduled for the session on 13-16 February 2006. According to the report, the EU was struggling to convey a common position in the 184-country fund. It called on the EU's 25 governments to work towards a 'gradual federation of constituencies' with a view to having a single EU seat.
