‘Merci La France’: Greek deal role earns Hollande flowers in Athens

France and its president François Hollande was seen as one of the very few allies Greece could count on during the negotiations with its creditors, which led to a new bailout agreement on 12-13 July 2015.

This record features the role of France in the critical moments of this crisis, as well as its position in the aftermath of the negotiations.

The chambers of the French parliament approved the deal between Greece and its creditors on 15 July 2015. Despite divergent views among the different parties, a strong consensus arose concerning the need to strenghten Eurozone governance.
