The UK government is worried that in the wake of the terrorist attacks in the US there will be a substantial increase in refugees entering Europe to escape the 'war on terrorism', increasing pressure on the Channel tunnel and ports and inflaming racial tension. There are already reports of racial incidents in the UK, linked to the US attacks.
