Ministers from a group of rich and poor countries acknowledged at a meeting, London, 30 April-1 May 2004 that serious obstacles remained to progress in the Doha world trade round but vowed to try to overcome them by the summer. The ministers, from the US, the European Union, Brazil, Kenya and South Africa, met in an attempt to inject political impetus into efforts to agree by the end of July 2004 a negotiating framework for the stalled Doha round.
