Mortgage plan could ease UK entry into single currency

A European Mortgage Finance Agency has been proposed to the European Commission by a group of European banks, that would create a pan-European capital market in mortgage-backed securities and encourage the growth of long-term fixed rate mortgages without early redemption fees.
