MPs fear increased budget control by Brussels / Ministers object to EU budgets proposal

According to a paper prepared for submission to the Treasury Select Committee on the Stability and Growth Pact and published by the UK Treasury on 13 January 2003, the (UK) Government is 'very concerned' about European Commission plans to assume greater powers over the budgets of Member States.
