Myanmar sanction talks set to intensify

Article reports that the US and European Union were likely to step up discussions in late January 2012 about lifting sanctions on Myanmar as the country quickened the pace of reform following its recent release of hundreds of political prisoners.

According to senior EU diplomats and US senators, the conduct of parliamentary by-elections due on the 1 April 2011 was likely to be very important.
