National security strategy of the United Kingdom: Security in an interdependent world

The UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, on 19 March 2008, announced the publication of the first National Security Strategy for the United Kingdom. The strategy highlights the nature of the new security challenges, how they have changed, and how the UK is responding. Throughout, it draws on the wide range of knowledge and activity across departments, agencies and forces which contributes to the single overarching national security objective of protecting the United Kingdom and its interests.
