Nato to send 6,000 troops to southern Afghanistan despite surge in violence

Report of meeting of Nato defence ministers in Sicily on 9-10 February 2006, at which they reiterated their commitment to sending 6,000 troops to southern Afghanistan despite the growing violence in the provinces linked to the publication in a Danish newspaper of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.
