Never-ending enlargement is not the answer to the EU’s problems

To many in Brussels, adding more and more countries is an inevitable process to be managed by technocrats. Too few question the assumptions underlying enlargement or acknowledge that it comes with serious risks, including fracturing the political unity of existing member states.
