Summary

The details of a Danish-Greenlandic deal on uranium have been released, along with two declarations on nuclear safeguards and export controls and an annex on safety. Taken as a package, they establish a cooperative, shared approach to ensure compliance with the Rigsfællesskab’s international non-proliferation obligations such as those related to the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM). Greenland retains control over mining, environment and safety, while Denmark will exercise control over non-proliferation.
