Newspapers crucial for democracy, says Vassiliou

Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner responsible for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, declared in an address on 25 May 2012 at the general assembly of the European Newspapers Publishers' Association (ENPA) in Nicosia, Cyprus that European newspapers played a tremendous role in helping to shape democratic and tolerant societies.
