Sylvi Listhaug, Norwegian Justice Minister announced her resignation on 20 March 2018 ahead of a no-confidence vote she was likely to lose and could have prompted the centre-right minority government’s collapse.

Listhaug's resignation was the culmination of the political and public outcry over an image and message posted by her on Facebook.

Sylvi Listhaug was temporarily replaced by Minister of fisheries and a member of the anti-immigration Progress Party (FrP) Per Sandberg.On 20 March 2018 the Norwegian Minister of Justice Sylvi Listhaug resigned.
