Parliament approves EU general budget for 2017

The European Parliament's plenary session formally endorsed on 1 December 2016 the concilitation agreement on the European Union's budget for 2017.

The initial proposal was released by the European Commission in June 2016. In order to reach a compromise agreement, conciliatory talks were undertaken with the remaining EU institutions and a deal was reached on 17 November 2016. The Council of the European Union approved the draft text on 28 November 2016.
