The European Commission has decided to propose a Regulation according to which charges for transactions in euros in the Internal Market should be the same for cross-border payments as for those within a single Member State. The provisions would be applied from 1 January 2002 for card payments and cash dispensers and from 1 January 2003 for bank transfers and cheques. |
