Former Welsh Secretary Peter Hain called on the 8 November 2013 for a full consultation with the people of Wales before the UK moves to hold a referendum on continued membership of the European Union.

The Labour Neath MP warned an EU exit would be 'catastrophic for British jobs and prosperity' and stated that Britain was in danger of 'sleepwalking into withdrawal from the European Union'.
