The United Kingdom is considering seeking an opt-out from European Union proposals which would allow temporary workers to enjoy the same pay and conditions as their directly employed colleagues. The (UK) Government is concerned about the damaging effect the proposed Directive would have on UK industry, which employs more agency workers than all its European competitors put together.
