On 4.5.00 Jurgen Weber, chief executive of Lufthansa, the German airline, called for fundamental reform of the air traffic control system in Europe to alleviate the 'daily fiasco of flight delays'. While air traffic was growing year after year, the expansion of airport capacities was stagnating and European air traffic control was failing to cope with the increasing traffic volume.
