Poland’s slowing growth pushed its government to hack away at the red tape that made central Europe’s largest economy one of the EU’s most rule-bound.

The Polish cabinet approved a measure in September that will deregulate 50 professions – ranging from taxi drivers to tour guides, real estate agents, lawyers and notaries. The Parliament was expected to start considering the 256-page bill in October 2012.
