Poland has presented a document to the EU

setting out its negotiating position on seven of the sectors which have already been through the Union's 'screening' process, to assess applicant countries' readiness to join. The sectors include science and research, telecoms, education, culture, industrial policy, small and medium enterprises and common foreign and security policy. Warsaw hopes that the document will allow the EU to start in-depth negotiations before the end of the year. Slovakia, which is currently excluded from the first wave of accession countries, presented its own document at the end of last month.
