Poland’s steelworks to break the mould

Poland, as an EU-accession candidate, is under great pressure from the European Union to restructure its ailing steel industry. The Commission has demanded a viable restructuring plan for the industry, including provisions for state aid, from both Poland and the Czech Republic, before closing the competition chapter in both countries' accession negotiations.
