Polish president signs controversial media bill

Polish President Andrzej Duda Thursday signed into law on the 7 January 2016 a recently launched media bill that had been criticised at home and abroad, arguing that the country's public broadcasters needed to be more 'impartial'.

Protests were organised by the recently-created Committee for the Defence of Democracy (KOD) in twenty cities in Poland on the 9 January 2016 against the new law.
