Priorities of the Portuguese EU Presidency:

+ Future of the Union;
+ Lisbon Strategy;
+ Strengthening the area of freedom, security and justice;
+ Europe and the World.

Portugal took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union between July and December 2007. It was the third time the country held the responsibility for the functioning of this institution.
