Presidential hopefuls

Danish Independence MEP Jens-Peter Bonde on Wednesday became the fourth politician to announce he would be a candidate to replace Josep Borrell as president of the Parliament. Also challenging front-runner Hans-Gert Pöttering of the EPP-ED group are Green Monica Frassoni and Francis Wurtz of the European United Left.

The European Commission has delayed adopting a proposal aimed at cleaning up member states’ patchwork of different rules for copyright levies on blank recording media and digital music file players such as Apple’s iPod.
