The European Commission approved four applications from Italy for assistance under the European Globalisation adjustment Fund (EGF). The Commission will now make a proposal to the European Parliament and the Council to mobilise the budgetary resources. The funding will help almost 6,000 workers in the textiles sector back into employment. The applications – for a total of €35,158,075 – concern workers made redundant in a large number of mainly small enterprises in four different Italian regions: Sardinia, Piedmont, Lombardy and Tuscany. |
