Press Release: A European naval force frigate hands over eleven suspected pirates to the Kenyan authorities

An EU NAVFOR-ATALANTA vessel handed over eleven presumed pirates along with their weapons and vessels to the Kenyan authorities in Mombassa this morning, 8 May 2009. The operation led by a French frigate, the Nivôse, is in accordance with the agreement of 6 March between the
European Union and Kenya which enables the latter to initiate legal action against pirates captured at sea.
