Jacques Barrot, Vice President of the European Commission in charge of transport, and the Minister for Transport of the Russian Federation, Igor Levitin, on 3 October 2005 signed, in Brussels, a Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of an EU-Russia Transport Dialogue. The new dialogue should lead to stronger EU-Russia transportation and infrastructure links. It was to entail a regular exchange of information in order to create benefits for both economies and their consumers. The Dialogue was to be structured around five specific Working Groups that were to meet on a regular basis to discuss issues of common interest in all modes of transport. |
