On 9 July 2014, the European Commission closed its antitrust investigation into generic pharmaceutical companies in France. The investigation focused on suspected coordination between generic pharmaceutical companies when negotiating an initial price with the French pricing authority before launching a new generic product.

European Union antitrust regulators fined French drugmaker Servier, Israel's Teva and four others a total of €428 million.
