The European Commission has decided to refer France to the European Court of Justice as it has not yet completely amended its legislation ('Code Monétaire') that formally prohibits banks from offering interest on current accounts to their customers. The referral to the Court marks the third stage of the infringement procedure laid down in Article 226 of the EC Treaty. |
