Press Release: Barcelona : European Commission sets 2005 target to deliver EU worker mobility

The European Commission adopted on 13 February 2002 an action plan to remove obstacles to EU workers' mobility between jobs and between countries by 2005. The Commission called upon government, business and workers themselves to do more, urgently, to equip workers for occupational mobility and better jobs and to accelerate efforts to ensure geographical mobility and a high-performance labour market. A key, visible initiative for the EU citizen is a plan to introduce an EU health insurance card.
