Press Release: Better regulation : Commission strengthens rules for impact assessments

The European Commission on 15 June 2005 presented an up-dating of its internal guidelines to better assess the impact of possible Commission proposals. While maintaining the Commission's integrated approach to impact assessment, the revised guidelines were intended to provide clearer guidance on areas relating to economic and competitiveness concerns. They also integrated an examination of compatibility with the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
