Press Release: Bringing spring to south Serbia: The EU and partners launch a new municipal support programme: MIR 2

A major programme of international assistance was launched in the poorest part of Serbia in March 2006. The 'Municipal Improvement and Revival: Phase 2', popularly known as 'MIR 2', was designed to help 13 local authorities improve the quality of their work, and thus improve the delivery of municipal services to their citizens. The activities of MIR 2 built on those of previous municipal support programmes in south Serbia, particularly its immediate predecessor, the EU-funded 'MIR 1', which ended in September 2005.

The mandate of the European Agency for Reconstruction ran out at the end of 2008.
