Press Release: Budget 2011: European Commission fast-tracks new draft to help Council and Parliament reach agreement

The European Commission has adopted a new draft EU budget for 2011 after the failure of the conciliation procedure between the European Parliament and the Council on 15 November 2010. The new draft budget foresees €126.5 billion in payments (+ 2.9% on 2010). On 26 November the President of the Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, sent a letter to the Presidents of the European Parliament and of the Council on the political issues linked to the adoption of the 2011 budget.
