A study published by the European Commission on 18 March 2002, 'Analysis of the impact on agricultural markets and incomes of EU enlargement to the CEECs', concludes that membership of the European Union will significantly improve the prospects for farmers in the candidate countries, without creating major market imbalances for an enlarged Union.
