Press Release: Change of UK permanent representative to the EU, Brussels

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary, with the concurrence of the UK Prime Minister, has appointed Mr Nigel Sheinwald to be United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the European Union in Brussels with the personal rank of Ambassador, in succession to Sir Stephen Wall, whose next appointment is being announced separately. Mr Sheinwald will take up his appointment at the beginning of September 2000.
