On 11 May, 2009, 150 citizens from across the EU met top policy-makers in Brussels to hand over their recommendations on how to tackle the economic and social challenges facing Europe. This 'Citizens' Summit' is the culmination of the first phase of the 2009 European Citizens’ Consultations, involving some 250,000 online users and 1,600 people representing a cross section of the societies in all 27 Member States.
