Press Release: Commission aims to improve the quality of its presence in Brussels

The Commission launched on 10 December 2003 a new, comprehensive, buildings and infrastructure strategy for its presence and activities in Brussels. With the Strategy the Commission will aim to ensure better integration of its buildings in the urban landscape, improve general architectural quality and access to its buildings, promote the use of public transport by its staff and develop social infrastructure. To ensure the coherent development of the European Quarter, the Commission wishes to further promote inter-Institutional cooperation and stresses the need for the Belgian authorities to appoint a single counterpart with whom the European Institutions could develop a partnership on all issues relevant to the development of the European Quarter.
