The European Commission adopted on 21 December 2005 a progress report on the radical administrative reform it initiated in 2000 with the White Paper 'Reforming the Commission'. The report spells out how the planned administrative reform measures described in the White Paper have now been fully implemented. These new administrative, managerial and financial tools to deliver policies more effectively have enabled the Commission to refocus on its core activities and political objectives. While reform as such has been delivered, the Commission will continue work to further optimise its internal administration, in particular by consolidating, streamlining and fine-tuning the reform measures. The Commission will also explore where these could be further simplified or made more flexible to ensure a service orientated approach. |
