Press Release: Commission establishes expert group to co-ordinate TSE research in Europe

On 15.12.00, a first meeting of national TSE (transmissible spongiform encephalopathies) experts and researchers took place in Brussels. The meeting was organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for Research in consultation with the Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection at the request of the Research Council at its meeting of 16.11.00. The expert group examined current European research in this field and suggested ways of improving its impact, in particular through better co-ordination of national and Community research activities.
